Fluoride – Is It Safe?

Is the fluoride in drinking water safe? This question is being asked by local news reporters. Residents from Pine Island to Naples are putting the issue to their city leaders. The City of Naples and Collier County both add fluoride to the drinking water. The Greater Pine Island Water Association is seeking to join the growing list of Florida communities adding it to the water supply.

Some concerned citizens have taken to installing water filter designed to remove fluoride. Others have taken the fight to their city councils to voice their concern on its safety and need for adding anything to the water supply.

The scientific and public health community feel that fluoride is a benefit to the community, and improve dental health, especially among children and aging adults, who are at the greatest risk to low income families that may not be able to afford it otherwise.
